Lamera track baptisms: Dijon nurses loved it

The penultimate round of the 2025 Lamera Cup took place at the Dijon-Prenois circuit for the weekend. As is the case every Friday after a meeting, the day was reserved for track debuts. Among those invited to experience the thrills of the Lamera were a dozen nurses from the Georges-François Leclerc Center. They left with stars in their eyes.

Along with Magny-Cours and Le Castellet, Dijon is one of the unmissable French Lamera Cup events. The Burgundy circuit, the scene of epic battles in the past, was bathed in its most beautiful autumn light to welcome the competitors of this cup with an uncertain outcome. Traditionally, Friday is reserved for private testing – the serious, timed stuff begins the next day – and for great initiatives to introduce motorsport in general and the Lamera Cup in particular to people who have never sat in the cramped cockpit of a racing car. In the midst of Pink October, it was logical that a Lamera would wear this traditional color, which recalls the importance of detecting breast cancer in women of all ages. In the past, patients suffering from the disease have climbed aboard for a few laps of the track. This time, the initiative was aimed at medical staff, all women, of course. The operation was a resounding success among the nurses at the Georges-François Leclerc Center, a private, community-based facility that treats various forms of cancer in Dijon.

«There were almost 80 of us who signed up for this track baptism. ", explains Elisabeth Prudent. "As it was impossible to accommodate everyone, a random draw allowed ten of us to experience this exceptional event. I live in the region, I've come a few times to watch races in Prenois, but I've never been on the circuit, especially in a racing car. It's very impressive." A feeling shared by Lou Quenneval: “It was great. I felt completely confident, even when braking at the end of the straight. I was so happy to be there. I didn't feel any stress.»

Bérénice Nargues also gave her analysis: “I loved it. I was a little nervous before getting into the right seat, but I immediately felt confident seeing that the driver knew what he was talking about. In the corners, I thought the car was going to fall on its side, but it has incredible handling. What's crazy is that you can feel the engine vibrations throughout your whole body. I've been to events on this circuit in the past, but I've never been able to get into a car, of course. I just want to do it again.»

With the flight attendants

At the heart of this great operation is Christophe Billet, a Dijon driver who has often ridden in the Lamera Cup in the past. With Arnaud Maire, Bouguignon too, we seized the opportunity of the Lamera passing through our area to organize these runway baptisms. We are doing it as part of the association "Air Hostesses Against Cancer" ». Continental Racing's Lamera 80 also carries a sticker all year round evoking this initiative. Before landing in Dijon, the pink Lamera was presented midweek in front of the Air France offices in Paris. For the photo, flight attendants donned their pink outfits just before boarding the plane to Orlando.

"Six or seven times during the month of October, flight attendants fly in pink instead of their traditional colors. For our part, we try to raise funds for the association. They are used to help sick women, but also the husbands and partners we support during this traumatic time. The goal is to improve people's well-being.»

Great initiative but it's a shame that once again in Prenois, the event is closed to the public!
