The organizers of the Lamera Cup were wise to move the start of the four-hour race forward this Saturday due to nightfall. Originally, the 26 cars on the starting grid were scheduled to take off at 15:00 PM and cross the finish line at 19:00 PM. Without lighting on the track, the final minutes of the race would have been perilous. Therefore, the pack finally set off at 14:40 PM to conclude this first round in the twilight.
This change obviously didn't affect the pace of the competitors. In this first thrilling battle, it was the #26 Lamera, starting from pole position, that took the win ahead of the #1 (L'Auto Leclerc) of the two-time defending champions, while the #421 (Atrax by Hedonic Racing) finished third. As for the #80 of CTF Continental Racing, it crossed the finish line in fifth place. As expected, the championship leaders took no risks, allowing their rivals in the #1 Lamera to slightly reduce the gap in the overall standings.
"It's good for morale," analyzed Emmanuel Orgeval at the finish. "But it's at the end of the seven-hour race this Sunday that we'll take stock. I've been saying it since the beginning of the weekend: we are not masters of our own destiny."
