Kurt van Buitenen (Fast Kukki Racing), faithful among the faithful

Since 2017, the Lamera 50 has been a regular in the Pro-Am category. Kurt van Buitenen, the team boss, often has the knack of inviting Flemish personalities to share the wheel of his racing car. This weekend in Dijon, Koen Wauters, a show business star, will be back with the team with which he competed in several rounds of the Lamera Cup at the start of the season.

Seller of Mercedes during the week, a driver and owner of a racing team on the weekend. Kurt – but his friends have called him Kukki since childhood – van Buitenen has been a Lamera Cup fan for a long time.

"I came to motorsport through the VW Fun Cup but the day I had the opportunity to try a Lamera, I was immediately won over by its power, its road holding and the spirit of this single-make formula where the track time far beats all other disciplines of the genre," says our interlocutor.

Initially involved in the Genius Water Racing team (the leading team in the Pro-Am championship before tackling the 11 Hours of Dijon this weekend), “Kukki” decided to fly on his own in 2021 by founding Fast Kukki Racing. Kurt van Buitenen has become such a fan of the Lamera Cup that he even imported this type of car to Belgium for a few years and whenever he has the opportunity, he calls on stars to make his team even more interesting in terms of media.

In Burgundy, for example, he will meet Koen Wauters, who has already participated in several rounds of the Lamera Cup this year. Koen is not known in France or even in the French-speaking part of Belgium. In Flanders and the Netherlands, on the other hand, he is a star. Not only because the group Clouseau, of which he is the singer, has been filling huge concert halls for forty years, but also because he is one of the most popular presenters on VTM, a commercial television channel that is very popular in the Dutch-speaking part of the Low Countries.

In the past, he has also called upon Tom Boonen (former double world champion in cycling and, in particular, quadruple winner of Paris-Roubaix) and most recently Marc Goossens. As for what the 2025 season of Fast Kukki Racing will be made of, his boss does not hesitate a tenth of a second: " I will continue to line up the Lamera 50 in the Cup with, if possible, new victories in the category. The last one was in Nogaro last year. I miss the taste of champagne, from the top step of the podium. "
