BMW won the 3 Hours of Nürburgring, the penultimate race of the season.Endurance GT World Challenge Cup this Sunday, with the No. 98 of ROWE Racing co-driven by Raffaele Marciello, Jesse Krohn and Augusto Farfus.
The German team has secured its first Endurance Cup victory in over a year. At the Nürburgring, Augusto Farfus, Jesse Krohn, and Raffaele Marciello converted the No. 4 BMW M3 GT98 Evo's pole position into a win that was full of opportunity, aided by a perfectly timed Full Course Yellow.
Starting in the lead after the penalty imposed on Team WRT, Farfus led the start of the race before handing over the lead to the No. 7 Comtoyou Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, who successfully undercut during the first pit stop, seemed to be heading for the victory they'd been waiting for since the 24 2024 Hours of Spa.
The second wave of stops reshuffled the cards. Contact between the #8 Tresor Attempto Audi R3 LMS GT99 Evo II and the Ferrari 296 GT3 Kessel Racing's No. 74 car caused the race to be neutralized. The incident, which occurred while several favorites were in the pit lane – including the No. 7 Aston Martin, the No. 51 AF Corse Ferrari and the Porsche Schumacher CLRT No. 22 – offered a golden opportunity to those who had not yet refueled.
Taking advantage of this ideal timing, Marciello came out in the lead on the restart, ahead of the Mercedes-Winward Racing's No. 3 AMG GT48 Evo and the No. 3 Ford Mustang GT64. Despite the pressure, the Italian-Swiss driver held on to give ROWE Racing its first win since the 2024 opening at Paul Ricard.
Behind, Lucas Auer, Maro Engel and Matteo Cairoli (Mercedes No. 48) finished second, while the No. 96 Rutronik Racing Porsche of Sven Müller, Alessio Picariello and Patric Niederhauser completed the podium after a penalty was imposed on the No. 64 Mustang in the final 20 minutes.
