Starting from 30th position on the grid (last in the Bronze category), crew #86 of Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific staged a spectacular comeback to finish second overall at the end of the Bathurst 12 Hour. The Danish team, High Class Racing, thus secured a class victory in its first appearance at the legendary Australian race.

Marked by spectacular and unusual accidents, the 19th edition of the Bathurst 12 Hour was interrupted and neutralized several times. In the opening moments of the race, Christopher Mies's No. 64 Ford Mustang collided with a kangaroo, while the No. 79 Porsche of Zelber, Babini, and Fontana crashed with the Mercedes Benz No. 77 of Ralf Aron later in the race.

Meanwhile, Kerong Li, Dorian Boccolacci and Anders Fjordbach, driving the No. 86 High Class Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R, delivered excellent first stints, allowing Porsche to get back into the fight for victory.

Yet another neutralization occurred 40 minutes from the end of the race, following contact between the No. 6 Mercedes and the No. 222, while the four remaining Porsche cars were in the top 10. Fourth before the incident, Dorian Boccolacci moved up to second position at the restart to cross the finish line less than two seconds behind the No. 888 Mercedes AMG of Team GMR.

A performance that astonished one of its main actors. What we have accomplished today is incredible; I still feel like I'm dreaming. exclaims Boccolacci. After a very early start this morning, at 4 a.m., we headed to the track knowing that anything could happen. The middle section of the race was challenging, but we managed our fuel well and positioned ourselves well for the final stages. We maintained excellent pace to finish second overall and first in the Bronze category, exceeding our expectations. The team did a fantastic job, and I couldn't have dreamed of a better result. »

The next round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge is scheduled for May 14-17 with the 24 Hours of Nürburgring.
