It's here Porsche #120 of Adam Adelson, Elliott Skeer and Laurin Heinrich who crossed the finish line in first position. A five-second penalty for an infringement during his last pit stop was however decided, and it was necessary to wait for the passage of the #31 BMW of Dries Vanthoor, Sheldon van der Linde and Charles Weerts to know the name of the winning brand of this 2024 edition. Passing 4″740 after the Porsche, the BMW therefore won the event by two tenths, while the Mercedes No. 130 by Jules Gounon, Maro Engel and Mikael Grenier completes the podium.
As is often the case, strategy played an important role in the fight for victory in Endurance American style. The #120 Porsche had in fact decided not to stop during one of the neutralisations. The Wright Motorsports machine took the lead shortly before the end of the fifth hour of the race, and by having to stop earlier, seemed to be in difficulty. It was then that a new saving neutralisation allowed it to get back in line with the entire pack, and to play for the win against the #31 BMW, the leader of the first hours of the race.
Starting from pole position, the #10 Herbert Motorsport Porsche (Antares Au/Loek Hartog, Patric Niederhauser) held on in the early stages of the race, but with a Pro-Am lineup, it was destined to drop down the standings. It eventually crossed the line in seventh place, still allowing it to win its class, ahead of the #24 Turner Motorsport BMW (Justin Rothberg/Patrick Gallagher/Robby Foley).
For Charles Weerts, this victory allows him to win the drivers' title in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, while Skeer and Adelson console themselves with the title in GT World Challenge Americas. Porsche also wins the constructors' title in theIGTC.
