The three men know each other well, having shared the same car at the 24 Spa 2024 Hours. Estre and Vanthoor were even teammates at Porsche Penske Motorsport WEC, winning the world title together last year. The Frenchman, an official Porsche driver since 2016, is one of the leading figures in endurance racing with victories in 24 Hours of Le Mans (LMGTE), at the Nürburgring and Spa. The Belgian, who has been with the brand since 2017, has had a string of successes, including Bathurst 2024 and this year the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 12 Hours of Sebring.
Pilet completes this trio of champions. A veteran of more than a decade in the Porsche colors, the Frenchman has shone in the WEC as well as in the United States, with a Daytona and three Sebrings to his credit. A regular on Asian circuits since 2023 in GT World Challenge Asia, he makes no secret of his ambition: to aim for victory in his first participation in the event.
For Shanghai-based Absolute Racing, this return to Suzuka has a special flavor: in 2019, during the last edition, the team took third place. The goal is clear: to do better and add to the record of Porsche, already XNUMX times victorious on this legendary track.
With eleven cars entered, the German marque will be the most represented at this exceptional GT3 round. For Estre, Vanthoor, and Pilet, all the lights are green to shine on one of the most iconic circuits in the world.
