The journey of Agustín Canapino in IndyCar and in the United States lasted a year and a half. The Argentine driver announced his return to the country on August 13 by formalizing his participation at the end of the 2024 season. Road Tourism starting with the Buenos Aires round on August 17 and 18. The one his aficionados call “Titan” will drive a Chevrolet Camaro from the Canning Motorsports team, born from the merger between the JP Carrera and Las Toscas Racing structures last May.
Agustín Canapino therefore returns to his first love, the TC, the toughest tourism championship in Argentina, where he won 4 titles, already with the JP Carrera team in 2010, before winning a hat-trick in Jet Racing. (2°17) then his father's team Canapino Sports between 2018 and 2019.

“A big thank you to those who made this possible, Gustavo Lema, Walter Perez and Sergio Vagnoni, to all members of the team and to each of the sponsors who are part of the project. We will give our all to each event, as we have always done, but with the challenge of experiencing in the flesh this historic transformation that the category is experiencing. (transition to more modern muscle-car bodies. Ed.). »
Agustín Canapino's time in IndyCar will therefore have consisted of discreet although sometimes promising performances in 2023 with Juncos Hollinger Racing (21st), then in a strange succession of controversies in 2024. Handicapped by a particularly virulent fan base, Agustín Canapino drew criticism from IndyCar fans after several drivers were victims of cyber-harassment following on-track brawls with the Argentine. Callum Ilott and Theo Pourchaire particularly paid the price.
Agustín Canapino skipped the Road America event last June when he “liked” hateful tweets against his opponents. His team, which hoped that the arrival of the Argentine star would trigger the arrival of multiple sponsors, is running with empty bodies from major partners.
In order to secure a better position in the general classification, synonymous with a better bonus from IndyCar (it is the car and its number which score points in the championship, regardless of its driver), Juncos Hollinger Racing preferred to appeal to another driver for the final five races of 2024. It will probably be Conor Daly, specialist on ovals, while four events will be contested on this type of track.
