Ill, Alex Bowman was replaced mid-race by a pilot-reporter.

Alex Bowman did not finish the third round of the season in Austin, Texas. According to his team, Hendrick Motorsports, the American driver suddenly felt unwell and was forced to retire with 25 laps remaining in the race.

"It was an unexpected situation. Alex wasn't feeling well enough to continue, so we made the decision to get him out of the car.", said Jeff Andrews, president and CEO of Hendrick Motorsports. "This happened suddenly. He was examined at the medical center and received fluids, but we have nothing else to share at this time. We are grateful to Myatt (Snider) for taking over on such short notice."

In a very unexpected move, Myatt Snider made his debut in NASCAR Snider took over driving duties in Bowman's No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro in the Cup Series. Snider ultimately finished six laps behind the winner, Tyler Reddick, but it was Bowman who scored points for his 36th-place finish.
