As is often the case at Talladega, victory came down to a few thousandths of a second, 22 to be precise, on the final lap across the finish line. Cindric took advantage of two backlog cars ahead of him to take the lead over Ryan Preece's Ford (RFK Racing). The Hendrick Racing Chevrolets driven by Kyle Larson and William Byron followed in third and fourth place. However, Preece, along with Joey Logano (Team Penske), were disqualified after the race for an illegal rear spoiler.

“I’m so proud of this team, from the strategy to the pit stops to the great car they gave me,” said the day’s winner. “It wasn’t easy. I have to give a lot of credit to Kyle Larson who took good care of me, he pushed me at the right times, especially coming towards the finish line. I was very upset with him after the race in Atlanta, I think now everything is fine! It’s great, and to be able to finish in a photo finish and qualify for the playoffs in front of such a big crowd here at Talladega… I had a good day in Alabama!”

Known for its impressive crashes, Talladega showed its good side this time, with numerous green-flag laps despite a furious field at times. Two incidents marked the race, the first eliminating Brad Keselowski (RFK Racing), Kyle Busch (Richard Childress Racing) and Ryan Blaney (Team Penske). The mayhem occurred during a pit-return phase on lap 43, with Keselowski being spun by Busch, in Blaney. With nine laps remaining in the first segment, Christopher Bell (Joe Gibbs Racing) hit the wall hard on the inside after a bump from Denny Hamlin. The driver Toyota was unharmed, as was Chris Buescher (RFK Racing), who was also involved in the accident.

The season of NASCAR The Cup Series continues next Sunday with the eleventh round of the season at Texas Motor Speedway.
