This is a victory that will leave its mark when the time comes to do the math. For this last outing before the start of the playoffs in Atlanta next weekend, nothing was yet set in stone for several drivers on the grid. Chase Briscoe (Stewart–Haas Racing), Chris Buescher (RFK Racing) and Kyle Busch (Richard Childress Racing) could still secure a ticket to the next phase.
It was the former who hit the jackpot at the end of a crazy end to the race where everything was played out until the last moments. Indeed, Chase Briscoe doused Kyle Busch's last hopes at the end of a final sprint which saw the former win his second Cup Series victory, his first since March 2022 Phoenix, his rival failing to take second place. Sixth on the finish line, Chris Buescher finished in the worst possible place in the championship, being the first eliminated in terms of points. This was in favor of Joe Gibbs Racing which saw Ty Gibbs and Martin Truex Jr narrowly pass despite their lack of victory on the year.
« I can't believe it, blew Chase Briscoe overcome with emotion. The day we found out the team was no longer going to exist, we stood in the workshop, looked at each other and said, “We’re in it until the end. We’re not giving up.” We kept saying all week that we had one last shot. And it hit the mark! "To his great delight, and the misfortune of Chris Buescher and Kyle Busch.
Up front, Tyler Reddick (23XI Racing) finished the season leading the championship. His 10th-place finish at Darlington saw him edge Kyle Larson (Hendrick Motorsports) by a single point.
