Like other sports such as basketball or baseball, NASCAR organizes its "All-Star" race in May, which does not count towards the championship but has the merit of bringing in a million dollars to its winner! This year, it was Christopher Bell (Joe Gibbs Racing) who won thanks to a nice strategic move at the end of the race.

On the 216th lap of the 250-lap race, the promoter decided to wave the yellow flag, a provision permitted only on this special event. Bell, who was at the front, then decided to pit and put on two new tires on the right side of his car. Toyota Camry. A decision that put him back in sixth position for the restart.

Methodically catching up with the competition to take second place from Ross Chastain's Chevrolet (Trackhouse Racing), Bell then closed in on the leader, Joey Logano (Team Penske). The Ford driver did his best to resist but had to admit defeat with nine laps to go, despite a very good battle. Bell therefore won ahead of Logano and Chastain after a relatively clean race on a circuit prone to collisions.

"North Wilkesboro, that's pretty good, right?", Bell shouted after getting out of his car, in the smoke of his celebration in front of the many fans present. “It’s absolutely incredible. North Wilkesboro, the best short track on the calendar.”

Next Sunday, the drivers will compete in one of the crown jewels, the Coca-Cola 600 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway. Kyle Larson will be competing after competing in the Indianapolis 500, for which he qualified 21st.
