Six races were held on road and street circuits this season, and "SVG" simply won five of them, and in a row! The New Zealander won once again, this time on the Roval of the Charlotte Motor Speedway, with a lead of more than fifteen seconds over his closest pursuer. Kyle Larson (Hendrick Motorsports) and Christopher Bell (Joe Gibbs Racing) nevertheless put up a strong resistance throughout the event, but ultimately no one could compete with the former Australian Supercars champion at the end of the race.

As is often the case in playoff heats, the focus shifted to the midfield, where the remaining drivers battling for one of the eight spots in the next round. Defending champion Joey Logano (Team Penske) was eliminated by a desperate last-lap move from Ross Chastain (Trackhouse Racing). The driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet had qualified going into the final lap, one point ahead of Logano. Each position in NASCAR bringing back a unit, it was enough for Chastain to lose one, or for Logano to overtake an opponent, to change the situation in the championship.

The first scenario occurred on the final lap, with Joe Gibbs Racing's Denny Hamlin moving inside on the hairpin leading back to the Charlotte oval. Logano was thus qualified, and Chastain had to attempt a desperate maneuver, as he had done in 2022, when he hit the wall in the final turn at Martinsville to pass several cars and advance to the final.

The Trackhouse driver then charged into the final chicane, clipping Hamlin. The two cars spun, and Chastain crossed the finish line in reverse... but it wasn't enough. Joey Logano barely saved his skin and continued his quest for a second consecutive title, alongside Hamlin, Ryan Blaney (Team Penske), Kyle Larson, William Byron, Chase Elliott (Hendrick Motorsports), Christopher Bell, and Chase Briscoe (Joe Gibbs Racing). The NASCAR caravan now moves to Las Vegas, a circuit where Joey Logano is regularly among the favorites...

Good evening, it seems to me that Hamlin belongs to Gibbs and not Penske? Thank you for your confirmation. Best regards

Absolutely! This is probably a bad formulation on my part, I do specify that Denny Hamlin rides at Joe Gibbs earlier in the article, which explains why I don't mention him later, but which can also create confusion with the "Ryan Blaney (Team Penske") that follows!
