Shane van Gisbergen, a finally mature Kiwi?

At almost 36 years old, the New Zealander is launching a full-time assault on the Nascar Cup Series. Triple Supercars champion in Australia, "SVG" hopes to reach the same level as his compatriot Scott McLaughlin in IndyCar, but he knows that it will take time.

Chicago, July 2, 2023. Rarely has a "road course ringer", the name given to road course specialists, been so eagerly awaited. At the wheel of the #91 Chevrolet, Shane van Gisbergen was sold to the Americans as a being apart, a driver full of talent ready to make the rest of the pack bite the dust, in a car that was still completely unknown to him just a few weeks earlier. After 78 laps of the new street circuit of the Nascar, “SVG” lifted the winner’s trophy, and the phenomenon was on the rise.
