The two-time Cup Series champion won after an overtime procedure, following an accident by Noah Gragson (Stewart-Haas Racing) with two laps to go. With little fuel left, Logano managed to keep the pack behind him, winning ahead of the winner of the race held on the same circuit in February, Daniel Suárez (Trackhouse Racing).
The top six is made up of drivers who qualified for the playoffs, with Kyle Busch (Richard Childress Racing) in seventh position being the first to not be able to fight for the championship this season. While Ty Gibbs (Joe Gibbs Racing) led for much of the end of the race, the young driver of the No. 6 fell sharply in the hierarchy during overtime, crossing the finish line in 54th place.
The race ended under yellow flag conditions for a multi-car crash that began when Trackhouse Racing's Ross Chastain hit the wall entering Turn 3. Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing), one of the favorites for the 2024 crown, was involved, capping off a very bad day for him. Constantly riding at the back of the field in the first half of the race to avoid potential incidents, Hamlin was unable to make a comeback late in the race before being involved in the final-lap crash. The driver of Toyota No. 11 will go to Watkins Glen this week with just a two-point lead over twelfth place, which is the last qualifier for the second round of the playoffs.
Championship leader coming into Atlanta, Kyle Larson (Hendrick Motorsports) leaves with just a 15-point lead over the last qualifying spot, after being eliminated in an accident on lap 56. After a possible puncture on the rear right, Larson violently hit the outside wall before being hit in turn by Chase Briscoe (Stewart-Haas Racing). The latter, who qualified after winning the Darlington event last week, is currently 16th in the championship, 21 points from qualifying.
