A tribute to the car that competed in DTM In the 1990s, the HWA EVO.R will be piloted by three drivers who have close ties with the Mercedes brand. Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig, sons of Roland Asch and Klaus Ludwig, who drove the 190E in DTM at the time, and Markus Winkelhock, three-time winner of the 24 Hours of Nürburgring and known for having led the only Grand Prix of Formula 1 in which he took part, on this same Nürburgring, in 2007.

The other drivers will be announced later, while all three cars will compete in the SP-X category. Initially planned for two cars, the program has been expanded to include a third EVO.R given the success of the German tuner's initial announcement. The 1990s tribute theme will continue in the sponsorships, with the return of some brands associated with the project at the time.

"After participating in top-level motorsport competitions at the Nürburgring for over 25 years, this circuit is like a second home to us."said Martin Marx, CEO of HWA. “We are, of course, extremely excited to finally be able to compete with our own car, but the fact that this enthusiasm is shared by so many drivers, fans, customers, and sponsors makes this experience even more special.”

The EVO.R, a racing version of the HWA EVO road car, will begin an intensive testing program this week at the Portimão circuit in Portugal. The 24 Hours of Nürburgring will take place from May 14th to 17th.
