Lamborghini's announcement comes with a sense of loss: the passing of the legendary 5,2-liter naturally aspirated V10. For its upcoming Super Trofeo, derived from the new Temerario, the Italian manufacturer has opted for a forced downsizing, choosing a 4,0-liter twin-turbo V8. Emissions standards, compactness, power, and torque: it must be admitted that this engine offers new possibilities. The good news, however, is that the hybrid system has been abandoned for reasons of weight and cost. Thus, while the road version develops 800 hp, the racing configuration still boasts 650 hp.

Presented here in the form of simple sketches, the Temerario Super Trofeo will make its competitive debut in the European, North American, and Asian championships starting in 2027. It will succeed the Huracán, introduced in 2015, and will become the sixth most successful one-make championship model in the world — ahead of the Ferrari Trofeo or Porsche Carrera Cup. With hundreds of units sold since 2009, the Super Trofeo remains a particularly lucrative business for Lamborghini.
Synergies with the GT3
The Temerario ST follows in the footsteps of the GT3 version, unveiled last July and expected to make its competitive debut at the 2026 12 Hours of Sebring. For the first time, the two cars will share several mechanical components, starting with the sequential gearbox developed by Hoer. Ironically, the Super Trofeo will be significantly more powerful than the GT3, the latter being limited to approximately 585 hp by the Balance of Performance (BoP) regulations imposed in SRO championships.

@Lamborghini
History repeats itself: a Super Trofeo is roughly half the price of a GT3 to buy and maintain, yet about a second faster per lap. The reason is simple: freed from all regulatory constraints, the ST adopts technical solutions that generate performance while making driving more accessible. These include increased downforce (a larger and taller rear wing), a redesigned front splitter and rear diffuser, and sophisticated electronic aids: ABS and traction control adjustable to 12 positions!
More rational than the Huracán Evo2 it replaces, the Temerario Super Trofeo abandons the rear dorsal fin, the roof air intake, and the excessively openwork wings, while adopting standard rearview mirrors.
Finally, it is worth noting the absence of any reference to a specific tire manufacturer, a direct consequence of the Hankook scandal, in which some tires burst at high speed, notably during the opening stages of the... 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024. Lamborghini will take the time to evaluate several suppliers before signing a future exclusivity contract with the chosen firm, which will then have the chance to equip more than one hundred cars competing around the world.
