Porsche Carrera Cup Brazil: Giassi, owner of Le Mans

Jeff Giassi wins the first Le Mans round of the Porsche Carrera Cup Brasil after a nice duel against Marçal Muller.

For his first appearance as part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Porsche Carrera Cup Brasil did not disappoint. At the end of the 11 laps contested on the 13,626 km of the Circuit de la Sarthe, Jeff Giassi won with only 0.144 seconds ahead of Marçal Muller, at the end of an intense race between the two men.

Starting third, Giassi capitalized on his pace to take the lead and hold on until the checkered flag. Behind him, Muller gave it his all in the final kilometers but had to settle for second place. Pedro Fantin completed the podium after setting the fastest lap of the race with a time of 4:05.613.

Miguel Paludo finished just off the podium in fourth place, ahead of pole-sitter Marcos Regadas, who was unable to convert his first-place grid position into a victory. The championship leader nevertheless leaves this first round with valuable points.

Massa delights the audience

Sixth in the overall standings, Paulo Massa shone once again, winning the Rookie category. Having already secured pole position in his class during qualifying, the young Brazilian confirmed his immense potential on a circuit as demanding as Le Mans. This serves as a reminder that speed definitely seems to run in the Massa family.

In Sport, the victory went to Luc Monteiro Pires, tenth in the general classification, ahead of Israel Salmen and Sylvio de Barros Malucelli.

Another name well-known to Le Mans 24 Hours fans, Michael Fassbender, crossed the finish line in 26th place overall after a minor spin on the first lap. The Irish driver/actor's learning curve continues.

The second race of the weekend is scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m., a few hours before the start of the Le Mans classic.
