Perth – Waters finally wins in race 2

The Tickford racing driver opens his victory counter in 2024. He wins the Sunday race after Chaz Mostert, leader of the race, was given a 5-second penalty. The Walkinshaw Andretti United driver took the second step of the podium ahead of championship leader Will Brown, who remains as consistent as ever.

Perth – Waters finally wins in race 2

Chaz Mostert could have had the perfect weekend, but a small communication error with his team after the pit stop cost him his second victory this season. Mozy left his booth a little too early. Thomas Randle (Tickford Racing) had to jump on the brakes to avoid a merger between the two Ford Mustangs. Race management ruled that Mostert should have let Randle's car pass. When he gets back on the track, he will try everything to keep his opponents more than five seconds away but he will have to settle for 2nd place in this round.

Waters turns pole into victory

The Monster Energy driver has signed a new top position. At the end of the first pass in front of the pits, he was unable to maintain his apex (due to his tires still being at the right temperature), Mostert rushed into the door half-opened by the driver Tickford. Throughout the race, Waters will stay in second position with the hope of seizing an opportunity. He is ahead of his teammate Thomas Randle who manages to keep Will Brown at bay for almost the entire round. It was only a few laps from the goal that the Triple Eight driver found the opening on Randle.

The contact between the two men, when overtaking, ejects Randle from the trajectory. The race direction imposes 5 seconds of penalties on Brown who manages to finish the race 6 seconds ahead of Randle. Brown takes his 9th podium in 10 races. His metronome-like consistency allows him to strengthen his position as leader in Australian Supercars. His teammate Feeney had a complicated weekend, he had to settle for 7th place. Brodie Kostecki was once again forced to withdraw while fighting at the gates of the Top 5.

Waters finally won ahead of Chaz Mostert who had a superb weekend. He moved up to 3rd place in the general classification just behind Feeney who was starting to be taken down by Will Brown. The next Australian Supercars meeting is scheduled for the Darwin track on June 15 and 16.
