After a first qualifying session in the wet, the track dried out enough for slicks to become the right choice for qualifying for the second race of the Porsche Sprint Challenge France of the Nogaro Easter Cups.
This allowed Louis Perrot (IMSA Performance), winner of the Porsche Sprint Challenge France 2021, to sign a magnificent pole position with 2,4 seconds ahead of Hugo Giraud (ABM) and 2,505 seconds over Frédéric Ancel (Ancel Motors by Porsche Lorient Racing), all three driving 992 GT3 Cups.
Sixth, Vincent Isavard (Berto Matériaux) was the fastest of the 991 phase II while Michael Drougard (2M Compétition), tenth, set the best time of the 991 phase I. Finally, in 997 R, it was Michel Ettouati (IMSA Performance) who was best classified with the fourteenth fastest time.
The weather was perfect at the start and Louis Perrot took advantage of his pole position to escape into the lead and not be worried again until the finish. A finish whose podium corresponded to that of the tests, but in disorder with Frédéric Ancel, second, ahead of Hugo Giraud, third. Victor Blugeon (ABM) could have joined the fight for victory, but he unfortunately suffered a puncture and was forced to retire on the fourth lap. This retirement benefited Eric Debard (Racetivity) who started ninth and moved up to fourth place at the end of the race. It was not the best comeback of the race where there were fights at all levels, this being to the credit of Grégory Rasse (MRS), who started sixteenth following a poor qualification and finished sixth.
On the Nogaro track, the 992 GT3 Cups were undoubtedly the fastest since it was necessary to go down to ninth position to find the first 991 GT3 Cup phase II, driven by Marco Gerarduzzi (DBG Motorsport), followed by Alexandre Rasse (MRS), tenth and Roland Chotard (Chotard Team), sixteenth. As for the 991 GT3 Cup phase I category, it was won by Marc Boithiot (Berto Engine), thirteenth in the general classification, followed by Michael Drougard (2M Compétition), fourteenth who was only ahead of Michel Ettouati (IMSA Performance), the group winner. 997 GT3 R and fifteenth in the general classification.
The race was unfortunately truncated by the red flag following Marco Gerarduzzi (DBG Motorsport) going off the track in the penultimate corner. His car finding itself in a bad position in the gravel trap, the race management preferred to avoid taking unnecessary risks.
