Spa, the Corvette triumph

The No. 6 Corvette C4.R from the Belgian team PK Carsport won at the end of the 24 Hours of racing in the legendary Spa endurance event.

Winning the 24 Hours of Spa, for a Belgian team, is the greatest victory. This is the feat achieved by the PK Carsport team, on the Ardennes circuit, at the end of a race which hesitated between offering victory to Corvette or Maserati. But, like any endurance race, the 24 Hours of Spa proceeded by elimination in order to arrive at the name of the winner.

After the setbacks of the Vitaphone team's Maserati MC 12s, the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvettes were best placed a few hours before the end of the double round of the clock. Everything was between the Selleslagh Racing Team and the PK Carsport team. But the No. 3 SRT found itself the victim of a serious oil leak just over three hours from the finish. Delayed in her pit, she let the other Corvette C6.R on the track take over the destiny of the race.

Behind, the No. 12 Maserati MC 33, the victim of poor handling the day before in the pits, was gradually moving back towards the top positions. Depending on the mechanical problems, the Italian car could play for a place on the podium and inherited third place after the problem with the No. 3 Corvette.

The Audi R8 LMS, surprisingly second a few dozen minutes from the finish, was finally forced to make a prolonged stop, which allowed the No. 33 Maserati to regain its distance in second position, eleven laps behind the Corvette. of head. The No. 111 Audi was, however, able to restart, finishing best in G2 and third in the general classification.

After a solid race, the Classic Ferrari for sale 430 n°50 ranked fourth, 19 laps behind the leading car, and took victory in the GT2 standings, five laps ahead of the Porsche 997 n°97.
