The Guia Race is a prestigious event, with some of the biggest names in touring car racing having competed there, from Hans Joachim Stuck to Frank Biela, including Andy Priaulx, Yvan Muller, and Rob Huff. This second race of the weekend is the last of the 2025 season. The newly crowned World Cup champion, Yann Ehrlacher, starts from 9th place on the grid (reverse grid). Pole position goes to Australian TCR champion Josh Buchan, who finished 10th in yesterday's race.
At the start of the race, Buchan managed to resist attacks from Santiago Urrutia (Lynk & Co), who was looking for a good result to end what had been a disappointing season on a high note. Buchan, however, closed off all openings, and the Uruguayan was unable to get past. He tried everything until the 7th of the 10 laps, making contact with the Hyundai After the leader's run up the San Francisco corner, his Lynk & Co 03 was damaged, and the South American driver plummeted down the standings. His teammate, Qing Hua Ma, then took his place and tried to overtake Buchan. Like Urrutia, the Chinese driver couldn't find a way past but still finished on the podium, ahead of Thed Björk, Yann Ehrlacher's runner-up this season.
The 2025 winner ends his season in a way he would not have wanted: in the tire wall at the Lisboa corner. He crossed the finish line in 11th place, but the main objective had already been achieved on Saturday morning. Josh Buchan secured the biggest victory of his career, ahead of Ma and Björk. The TCR World Tour closes the book on the 2025 season and can now focus on next season. The goal is to work on its promotion to allow this prestigious discipline to regain its former glory and rightful place in the global motorsport landscape.
