Following the recent Steering Committee meeting of the French Federation of Motorsport on November 24th, the calendars for the major national championships were unveiled at the end of last week. Go-karting au rally including hill climb racing and the RallycrossAll the dates for events bearing the French Championship label have now been officially announced. To put it simply, these calendars don't contain any major surprises, but rather confirmations of some date changes for certain championships and, for others, the addition of dates, although, again, most of this information had already leaked.

In rallying, a change for the gravel

The biggest change to these calendars comes from the French Gravel Rally Championship. In 2026, the season will open in the Lot region, on the first weekend of March. The Rallye Castine Terre d'Occitanie, initially held in May, has been forced to move its date forward by two months: "The nesting period of two protected species found in our area, namely the Short-toed Eagle and the Stone Curlew, runs from March 15th to August 15th. Our usual date was completely incompatible with the requirements of the environmental services and risked seriously jeopardizing the future of our event," read a recent press release from the organizer. In addition to this change, the Rallye Terre de Découverte will also be held for the second consecutive year in July, and its coefficient will be 0,5 for the championship, as in 2025. As for the asphalt, however, there are no major changes apart from the Aveyron Rouergue Occitanie Rally being moved back a week (from July 9 to 11) compared to its original slot.

A more robust CFM 2nd Division

In the hill climb category, the French Second Division Championship is generating the most interest. Reduced to four double-header events last year, it returns to a more conventional six-race format and welcomes the addition of the Cacharat and, more surprisingly, Chamrousse events. In early August, the Haute-Loire region will host this competition for the first time, while the Isère event, a former highlight of the First Division but cancelled last year for economic reasons, will attempt to regain its former glory as the Second Division final. The French First Division Hill Climb Championship will begin, as usual, with the Bagnols-Sabran Hill Climb in the Gard region (March 27-29).
