The most decorated Belgian rider in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, and later winner of the 24 Hours of Spa on four wheels, Didier de Radiguès has been the Belgian voice of MotoGP for years. We caught up with him at the Spanish Grand Prix, held in Jerez this spring.

Hello Didier! Our ride begins in a place familiar to you: the Jerez de la Frontera circuit. This year the MotoGP was setting up camp in Andalusia for the 41st time. But you were there for the first edition, in 1987?

That's right, it was on a Cagiva. Unfortunately, a brake problem prevented me from finishing the race.

Before we talk about Grand Prix racing, let's go back to the beginning of your career. What was your first experience with a two-wheeler?

I'm one of those riders who started late. At 14, I would borrow my older brother's motorcycle to ride around the driveway, because I wasn't old enough to get my license yet (16 years old in Belgium(Editor's note). Before motorcycles, it was bicycles. As soon as we came to a roundabout, we'd go around it trying to put our knees down. I fell off every day… I was…
