24 Hours of Le Mans, 24 Hours of Spa, rallies, hill climbs, Nascar, Dakar… Christine Beckers is part of this generation which tasted all the disciplines of motorsport. At 80 years old, she still fuels the fire of passion with unreasonable projects. But reason has never been the compass of his existence.

Christine, where are you taking us?

We'll keep it simple. We leave from the property of the Castelein family who are kind enough to welcome me every time I come to Francorchamps. Come on, come with me to my Mercedes GLC 2,0 liter diesel with 170 horsepower, with which I drive around 8 km per year. Today, I live in France, in the Landes, but I come back to Belgium quite often. And it's always a real pleasure to return to the most beautiful circuit in the world and the magnificent region in which it is nestled. I love the Ardennes slide. Especially the old 000 km version with its ultra-fast turns. Masta, for example, is the kind of curve where the feet curl up in the shoes. But what satisfaction when we dared to keep the accelerator welded to the floor and we congratulate ourselves on having gained 14 rpm compared to the previous passage! It was a very dangerous circuit at the time.

What was your relationship to danger exactly? 

We don't think about death while racing. But, you feel that you live on the track. I don't think I liked risk. On the other hand, I appreciated the adrenaline it gave me.

Where does your stainless love for motorsport come from? 

Certainly not from my parents! Even though my father bought himself a Porsche 911, he hated motor sports. My mother was passionate about m
