Dorian Boisdron: “You have to multiply experiences to forge your way of doing things”

Hello Dorian! Beautiful name, but also beautiful car that we have here! A 100% electric model, like in Formula E, so I start with this question: is this vehicle – the Ariya – the concrete representation, in everyday life, of why you do motorsport?

In many ways, it is a car that has a direct link with our activities. It is equipped with e-4ORCE technology, and we take this name in the name of the car that we homologate in Formula E. The funny thing is that it has an electric motor on the front axle and another on the rear axle, which we will also have in Formula E in the coming season. For the first time, we will have the possibility of having four-wheel drive on the single-seater. The link is obvious.

Do you feel like you are a player in the electric revolution that we are experiencing today in the automobile industry?

At our modest level, yes. In engineering school, I had the chance to do the Shell Eco-marathon (university competition whose goal is to travel the greatest distance with 1 liter of fuel. Ed.) and it was precisely the beginnings of electric and hydrogen vehicles. In a way, my story with the electric car began there. I was already wondering about how to work on energy management, on the car of tomorrow. I have been involved in Formula E since Gen1 (2014-2017). I have seen the evolution, generation after generation, by making a competition "on the fringes" of conventional championships, we are faced with problems that recall those of the pioneers of motorsport.

How did you become passionate about this field?

I don't come from a family or a background where there was a particular history with motorsport. On the other hand, if we go back to my origins with motorsport, I think directly of my dad who is a big fan of F1. Of course, it comes from him.
