Ronnie Kessel: "As Carroll Shelby said, you have to win on Sunday and sell on Monday"

You spoil us with this Ferrari GTC4Lusso. Out of all the cars you own, why did you choose this one for this Carpooling ?

This is one of the best Ferraris for traveling, because there is plenty of space on board, especially when it comes to going to a race. Its large trunk allows you to store all your driver's equipment, everything you need to go away for several days. And what's more, to transport your friends. Add to that its legendary 12-cylinder engine (6,3 liters of 690 horsepower and 4-wheel drive. Ed.) which is the purest there is.

Is this the car you use daily?

No, for that I use my Smart. Very practical for the city, but on the other hand, it is difficult to get to Florence with it from Switzerland. (Laughs) Hence the Ferrari GTC4Lusso which allows me to go on the circuits.

Your brand, and particularly your team, Kessel Racing, has a very strong link with Ferrari. How did this relationship with the Italian manufacturer come about?

My father (Loris) has always been a car dealer. He started with Alfa Romeo, then Honda, De Tomaso, Maserati, Lamborghini. When Ferrari was looking for a new dealership around Lugano (where is the dealership located. Ed.), they contacted him and said: " If you become a Ferrari dealer, you have to give up brands that don't belong to the family. "So he focused on Ferrari. That's where our connection with the Prancing Horse comes from, which has never been broken. So that relationship started in the 1990s, after my father (Loris) got involved in Formula 1 (3 departures in 1976 and 1977. Editor's note) and more particularly after racing at Ferrari (in 1990 in IMSA Camel Lights. Ed.).

You mentioned your father Loris. I think your first name comes from another F1 driver.
