He was in contention for the European Hill Climb Championship title until the very last round last season, and he's back this year with the firm intention of playing a leading role on the continent. Kévin Petit has just unveiled the new livery of his Nova Proto NP01, powered by a 1,7 Turbo engine, which he will use again this season in continental competition. A small change, beyond the livery, is the addition of a roll cage, now mandatory on these prototypes in the European Hill Climb Championship, which will provide greater protection for drivers in the event of a crash. It's not a new car, however, but rather the same one he used last year, which received the necessary kit this winter, manufactured in the French company's Pyrenean workshops.
Kevin Petit, a legitimate candidate for the continental title in 2026?
After two seasons driving a Revolt 3P0, the former Lionel Régal Trophy winner opted to compete in the European Hill Climb Championship for a second consecutive year, driving a new car last year: the Nova Proto NP01. From the very first round of the championship in Saint-Jean-du-Gard, he caused a sensation by securing his first overall victory in Europe, then repeated the feat a few weeks later in Austria, on the legendary slopes of the Rechberg. Competing for wins and podium finishes every weekend from April 2025 onwards, he also triumphed later that August in Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia, clinching his third victory of the season. The European Hill Climb Championship field will once again be highly competitive this year, featuring the Italian legend Christian Merli, the Spaniard Joseba Iraola, and the Czech Petr Trnka. The season will begin at the end of April in Rechberg, Austria.
