Electric has not beaten thermal. The 2025 edition of Pikes Peak, held this Sunday, June 22, saw the victory of Simone Faggioli's Nova Proto NP01. The Italian driver, a true benchmark in Hill Climb Racing (11 European Championship titles!), finished five seconds ahead of Frenchman Romain Dumas. The latter was competing in the American event with the Ford Super Mustang Mach-E, an electric prototype delivering the equivalent of 1 horsepower.

Simone Faggioli became the first Italian to enter the centenary race. His Nova, a small car built in the Hautes-Pyrénées region of France in the workshops of the former manufacturer Norma, stood out thanks in part to its lightness, compared to a Ford weighing nearly two tons.

Most importantly, the race was cut short in the upper half of its course. Strong gusts of wind forced the organizers to lower the finish line to the Glen Cove cabin, at the end of the forest section.

This decision left a bitter taste in Romain Dumas' mouth. The run was good. Unfortunately, not having the following sectors is a shame, that's where we would have made the difference on the thermal prototypes. (Thanks to the thinning of the air, gasoline-powered cars would have lost power, unlike the electric Ford. Editor's note). I'm a little disappointed, but the decision wasn't ours. We won the class, that's the most important thing. It's a little frustrating not to be riding in sectors 2 and 3. It's not surprising that Simone beat me."
