The 83rd edition of the famous Paris-Nice cycling race takes place this week in eight stages, between Le Perray-en-Yvelines and Nice. The event, which started on Sunday, March 9, paid a fitting tribute to motorsport on Tuesday, March 11, as the start of the third stage was given from the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit, the venue for the French Grand Prix of Formula 1 from 1991 to 2008.

To push the comparison between the two disciplines to the limit, it was under the particular format of the team time trial – an exercise often practiced in wind tunnels as well as on racing circuits – that the 148 riders still in the running took to the bends of the Nièvre circuit. The 22 teams entered took up residence in the pit lane garages before setting off one by one from the starting grid. After completing a lap of the circuit, they then headed towards the city center of Nevers, where the finish was judged at the end of a total course of 28,4 kilometers.

On the clock, the Visma – Lease a Bike team of two-time Tour de France winner (2022, 2023) Jonas Vingegaard won, allowing the Dane to move up to second place in the general classification. Winner of the first two stages and leader before this time trial, Belgian Tim Merlier (Soudal – Quick Step) was deprived of the yellow jersey, now held by the Paris-Nice defending champion, American Matteo Jorgenson, Vingegaard's teammate.

The fourth stage of this Paris-Nice 2025 will take place this Wednesday, March 12, over 163,4 kilometers between Vichy and La Loge des Gardes.
