Hot Lap Racing: The Made In France surprise

If each year brings with it a lot of “expected” motorsport titles, little surprises can sometimes arise! This is the case this July with Hot Lap Racing, whose release scheduled for July 16 is accompanied by a list of cars as eclectic as it is tempting.

Developed by Zero Games Studios, Hot Lap Racing will be available from July 16 on Nintendo Switch and PC for the modest sum of €29,99. Unlike many games focused on a particular championship, the appeal of Hot Lap Racing lies in its career mode, which will allow players to climb the ranks of motorsport, whether in car, in GT or in Endurance. Indeed, if we find the standard pyramid of the single-seater, going from the Mygale of Feed Racing, one of the official partners of the game, to the Formula Xtreme, dedicated to reproducing the summit of motorsport, we will be able to find many other types of cars, including two Hypercars!

La Peugeot 9X8 first version, without rear wing therefore, will be in the game as well as theAlpine A480, which had raced in the premier category in 2021 and 2022. The Ligier prototypes will also make it possible to build a real Endurance pyramid for players, while on the GT/Tourism side, we will be able to find, for example, the Lamera Cup, or even the Renault Megane Trophy V6.

The latter is a car which is no longer in competition, but which joins several emblematic cars from history! The Brabham BT24, Formula 1 from the 60s, will for example be playable, just like theAlfa Romeo 155 V6 which made the heyday of DTM from the 90s, or the Vauxhall Cavalier and other Renault Lagunas, pillars of the finest hours of the British touring championship, the BTCC.

Seventeen circuits to experience

In all, more than 50 different cars will be playable on the game's 17 circuits. Some, such as Oschersleben, Zolder or the Salzburgring, are official licensed circuits, the others are fictional tracks, although very inspired that said. routes that we know well, like Magny-Cours for example.

To acquire dexterity, a driving school will provide you with the correct codes for handling your car, trajectories and braking. The graphics rendering on Nintendo Switch is very satisfactory, considering the power of this console. Notably the immersive views that are rather unique for a car game at this level. In this, Hot Lap Racing brings a real novelty.

The driving options affect the difficulty of your opponents, the number of qualifying or racing laps, the time of day and therefore its brightness, etc. The gameplay is very arcade-oriented, but the driving is entertaining, as is the idea, for those in their forties, of finding cars that made them dream of when they were young, like an Opel Calibra DTM with a design ultra square. Welcome back to childhood!
