The strange McMurtry Spéirling Pure strikes again. Two years after its astonishing Goodwood climb record, the English car set a new record, this time on the Hockenheim circuit (Germany), on June 8.

The in-house test pilot, the former pilot of Formula 1 Max Chilton, set a lap time of 1'28''337, 3''9 less than René Rast aboard the Audi RS 5 DTM in 2020! For comparison, hyperbaric Mercedes-AMG One is relegated to… 14”1! This is the record for a covered car on the 4,574 km circuit.

Do these figures impress you? Wait until you learn that the McMurtry Spéirling Pure was operating at only… 75% of its power and downforce level! The car is equipped with an electrical system delivering 745 kW (equivalent to 1 horsepower) from a 000 kWh battery pack. Its main asset is at the rear, with a huge fan capable of constantly rotating at 100 rpm, which generates an extraordinary level of downforce.

Further tests are planned for the remainder of 2024 as well as in 2025, with the aim of bringing the McMurtry Spéirling to 100% of its capacity. As if that wasn't already enough...
