Rallye du Maroc – Sébastien Loeb delighted by Dacia’s double: “Everything is on the right track for the Dakar”

Second in the Rallye du Maroc, Sébastien Loeb is delighted with a race without any major problems with Dacia, which has achieved a double for its first participation in a rally-raid. The Alsatian will still have some regrets, having failed just five minutes from victory.

Contract fulfilled and mission accomplished for Dacia and Sébastien Loeb. From its first official outing in competition, the Romanian manufacturer signed a double full of authority on the Rally from Morocco, with the victory of Nasser Al-Attiyah and the 2nd place of the French driver.

The Alsatian finished 5'10 behind his teammate, with the highlight being two stage victories, the last of which was contested this Friday. A delay that found its source at the start of the event: after a frustrating Prologue (broken suspension triangle), the nine-time world rally champion lost more than ten minutes at the finish of Stage 1. A small regret since on the other four stages, he was certainly the fastest driver in the field.

Un "excellent result" for Dacia and Loeb

"It's a great result, especially for the team, we are first and second, rejoices Sébastien Loeb, who equaled his best result on the Rally of Morocco (2nd in 2017 at the time on Peugeot 3008 DKR). We had some difficulties at the beginning of the rally during the Prologue where we had a problem, so we started way back on the first stage. We were doing a good stage but we broke a steering arm after contact. At that point we had lost 10 minutes and from then on we tried to make up for lost time.

"We had four good stages, without any problems with the car. We were on the attack all the time, everything was working perfectly. It shows that we have a good performance, the car is good, we are comfortable in it. Everything is on the right track for the Dakar.", he concludes, his eyes already fixed on his main objective. Now, Dacia and Sébastien Loeb have less than three months to fine-tune their preparation for the biggest rally-raid event (3-17 January). In any case, the excellent result of this Rallye du Maroc brings a certain wind of optimism on the Dacia side.
