The kilometers pass by in the Moroccan desert, and the positions are tightening at the World Championship of rally-raid (W2RC). Thus, at the end of the third stage of the 2025 Rally of Morocco, and while there are still two special stages to be contested around Erfoud, the gap between the Championship leader and his direct pursuer remains tight!

Fourth on the day, Nasser Al Attiyah takes two stage points in the FIA championship. He does better than his rival for the title Lucas Moraes (9e), who scored none. The Qatari regained some air against the Brazilian, now 11 points behind. Winner of the special, Henk Lategan returned to 10 points behind Al Attiyah, but his poor position in the general classification of the race (16e Ultimate players registered in the W2RC) significantly reduces their chances of playing for the title. This calculation does not include general classification points.

For their part, Lucas Moraes and Armand Monleon (Toyota), although hampered by a slow puncture on Wednesday, are 2nd, 3'25" off the leader. If the race were to reach its conclusion tonight, Nasser Al-Attiyah would be crowned champion by a tiny point ahead of Lucas Moraes. There are still two stages to go, with points to be awarded each day, as well as a short Power Stage-style special on Friday afternoon. The race could very easily change in the coming kilometers.

As a reminder, here is the distribution of points for this event

  • Overall ranking, points awarded to the first 15 drivers: (30, 25, 20, 17, 15, 13, 11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2), then 2 points from 16th position for all classified competitors, and 1 point for unclassified competitors.
  • Ranking of each stage, (awarded to the first 5 drivers: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1).
  • Power Selective Section standings, points awarded to the top 3 drivers: (3, 2, 1).
