Nasser Al-Attiyah (Dacia) is not one to sit back and relax. Relegated to 20th place in the first stage of the Rally du Maroc 2025 following a mechanical breakdown, the Qatari had promised to attack. He kept his word and accomplished his mission with the best time achieved in the second special around Erfoud this Tuesday, October 14, alongside his co-driver Fabian Lurquin.
The road has not been easy for the triple world champion rally-raid (W2RC). "We had to stop mid-stage to assist a motorcyclist who was blocking the passage in a narrow wadi, reveals Nasser Al-Attiyah. She was exhausted, she couldn't lift her bike to clear the track. Fabian (Lurquin) jumped out of the cockpit to help him! Then we went back on the attack. I'm happy to have won this stage."
Nasser Al-Attiyah and Fabian Lurquin should be credited with a new fixed time omitting the stoppage time to help the competitor. In the world championship, Nasser Al-Attiyah pockets 5 points thanks to this scratch time, which allows him to maintain a 9-point lead over his direct pursuer, Lucas Moraes (Toyota, 3rd time). In the general classification, the Dacia Sandriders crew moved up to 7th place, 10'26'' behind the leaders Roma-Haro (Ford).
"That's what the Rally of Morocco is all about; the situation can change from one day to the next. Yesterday, we lost 12 minutes. Today we won. But the road is still long, the championship is still very open, and we'll take the race day by day."
