Andreas Bakkerud returns to Lohéac!

From September 1st, Andreas Bakkerud will once again grace the French public with his presence on the occasion of the sixth stage of the French championship of Rallycross to come on the Lohéac circuit.  This is undoubtedly one of the best results in international Rallycross. Triple European Rallycross champion with 11 successes and 22 podiums to his credit, the Norwegian has also made a special place for himself in the history of FIA World RX by finishing three times on the final podium of the championship. World with, as a highlight, a title of vice-world champion obtained in 2019.

His figures at the World RX level are sufficiently eloquent to understand the dimension taken by the driver from Bergen. In seven successive campaigns at this level of competition, Andreas Bakkerud has amassed a total of seven victories for 30 podiums.  If Andreas Bakkerud had already made a surprise appearance in Brittany in 2022 ending on the second step of the podium, the current resident of the Nitrocross series could not resist the Lohéac temptation. And like last year, it is at the controls of the Skoda Fabia with which he won the 2021 European champion title under the colors of the Lithuanian ES Motorsport team that Bakkerud will try his luck again in Brittany.

“The reasons for this return are simple to understand, underlines Andreas Bakkerud. Last year, I know that I didn't come far from winning, while the Lohéac race honestly remains the event that I enjoyed the most in 2022. Whether in terms of sporting quality or even in terms of the public's enthusiasm, it was certainly the best race of the year in which I was able to participate. There was such fervor and an incredible feeling of joy in the paddock. I found there all the values that contribute to making Rallycross such a special sport”

“And then, I also know that there are a lot of French fans waiting for me, rejoices the Norwegian champion. I also know that they are already printing t-shirts for the occasion and that they are working a lot on their part to ensure that everything goes perfectly. They are incredible and I hope that I can count on even stronger support from the “Bakkerud Blue” army because I return to France with the intention of taking my revenge on Lohéac 2022”

Above all, after a 2022 edition finished in second place in the wake of Yury Belevskiy, Andreas Bakkerud is well aware that he has a job to complete in Brittany. A fact all the more obvious as this 2023 edition marks the tenth anniversary of its victory won in 2013 during the Breton stage of the European Championship.

“In my opinion, Höljes (Sweden) and Lohéac are the two biggest races that we cannot ignore. And then, whether it's a World Championship event or a simple national championship, it doesn't change anything in my approach. Lohéac is an unmissable event for all Rallycross drivers and there was no way I could miss it. And then, even if I have difficulty realizing this, this year 2023 also marks the tenth anniversary of my victory at Lohéac... I still feel young though and I must admit that I haven't seen the time pass. But it's a good thing because this anniversary will give me an additional opportunity to commune with the entire French public."
