World RX Finland: Veiby wins

For the first time in its history, World RX made a stopover at the KymiRing in Finland. A track that notably features the longest straight of the season.

Despite a delicate context, with Team Hansen saved in extremis by the CE Dealer Team, this fourth meeting of the season hosted some great battles in the race.

With three victories in qualifying, Johan Kristoffersson placed his Polo RX1e on pole position for the final. He was joined on the front row by Niclas Grönholm (PWR RX1e). The rain would change some strategies, particularly regarding tire choice.

Determined to win on home soil, Grönholm was to pay the price for a hectic first corner and had to retire at the start of the final.

Off to a good start, Ole Christian Veiby (Polo RX1e) undercuts and quickly dives into the Joker Lap. This aggressive strategy will pay off for the Norwegian, who will dislodge his teammate Kristoffersson on the final lap.

Second in the final, Kristoffersson scored big points in his quest for an eighth World Championship title. RallycrossThe Swede is 15 points ahead of Grönholm and 19 ahead of Veiby.

Third at the finish, Finland's Juha Rytkönen (i20 RX) was given a two-second penalty for contact with Grönholm at the first corner. Kevin Hansen took advantage of this to secure his first podium finish of the season.

The final round of the season is scheduled in Türkiye on September 20 and 21 at Istanbul Park.
