Regal aims for title

Two weeks after the Mont-Dore round which saw the leaders surprised by the rain, it is in Chamrousse that the 11th round of the French Championship is being contested. After his failure in Auvergne, Lionel Régal will try to resume his march forward to secure a fifth championship title. Winner in 2008 by setting a new track record, Régal has all the cards in hand. His lead over Cyrille Frantz, undefeated in protos since the end of June, is more comfortable than it seems because he will have to count his poorest results one race before the leader.

Behind, Petit and Schatz did not take advantage of the French champion's misstep at Mont Dore to get closer with only three events remaining. With 320 points on the clock, Régal is respectively 46 and 67 points ahead of Petit and Schatz. The first climb is expected on Sunday at 8:50 a.m. Two other ascents to Roche Béranger will follow at 11:40 a.m. and 14:55 p.m.
