The Rouergue Rodez Aveyron Occitanie Rally has been cancelled due to an exceptional risk of fires.
The ASA Rouergue announced on Wednesday, July 8th, the cancellation of the Rouergue Rodez Aveyron Occitanie Rally, at the request of the Aveyron Prefecture. The department has been placed under heightened red alert since midday due to an exceptional risk of wildfires, making it impossible to hold the event.
The official statement signed by the chairman of the organizing committee, Jean-Claude Bessaou, is unambiguous: "It is with immense sadness that we inform you that, at the request of the Aveyron Prefecture, the Rally The Rouergue Rodez Aveyron Occitanie race has been cancelled. The cause is direct: "The Aveyron department has been placed under heightened red alert as of noon today, due to the exceptional risk of fires. In this context, the mobilization of emergency services is an absolute priority."
The organization, which says it fully understands the decision, wanted to express its solidarity with those on the front line: "With heavy hearts, we express our full support to the Aveyron Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS), to all firefighters and to all personnel mobilized to protect people, property and our territory." Before concluding : "In these exceptional circumstances, everyone's safety remains our priority."

The French Rally Championship also joined in these thoughts, recalling the importance of the event in the calendar: "The entire CFR team sends its full support to the organizing teams of this key event on the calendar during this difficult time."
The event was notably scheduled to host the third round of the Trophy Alpine The A290 Rallye, a new 100% electric one-make series, launched this season alongside the Clio Trophy France. After the successes of Melvin Rabilloud and Enzo Mahinc at Le Touquet, and then Aymeric Lenoir and Florian Hosson in the Vosges, the competition will resume at the next round.
