Canaries: A classic platter for the Canaries

When reading the set, there is a little disappointment. While the event will be included in the 2025 world championship calendar, no driver currently in WRC is not going to participate in this 48e editing. The proximity to Portugal (May 9-12) undoubtedly made the exercise too complicated. The contenders forERC will therefore be between them. Considering the spectacle offered during the first meeting in Hungary, that should be enough.

Often lonely at Hyundai, Hayden Paddon will receive reinforcement from Alexey Lukyanuk. Double European champion, the 43-year-old driver made two unconvincing appearances last year in Skodas. Triple winner on the island (2017, 2018, 2021) will he be able to confuse the issue?

The Skoda clan will once again be the most supplied with boys able to play leading roles on the asphalt like Efren Llarena, Erik Cais, Mikolaj Marczyk and Simon Wagner. Miklos Csomos will come to take his revenge after a frightening outing in 2023. For his part, Mathieu Franceschi will seek to show off his progress on the tarmac.

The latest winner and remaining on 3 podiums in 4 participations, Yoann Bonato appears to be one of the favorites. With the C3 of his new team, the Frenchman arrives perfectly prepared after an authoritarian success at Charbo. Having missed Hungary for medical reasons, Mads Ostberg will perhaps be a little "rusty", but the Norwegian (like the Frenchman) will be able to rely on Michelin tires which are always excellent on this terrain.

Having recently appeared in the ERC, it is still difficult to say what the Toyota Yaris Rally2. In Croatia, Sami Pajari posted very good times which perhaps bodes well for Martins Sesks (who already has no room for error after his Hungarian retirement) and Filip Mares.

The European fight will, as always, be refereed by local competitors. Counting for the Spain Superchampionship (3e round of the Spanish championship), the Canaries have attracted a good range of contenders with Antonio Suarez (Fabia RS), Diego Ruiloba (C3), Ivan Ares (i20), Oscar Ortiz and Alejandro Cachon (Yaris).

The fight in ERC Junior will be another focus with Max McRae (208), Mille Johansson (Corsa) and Timo Schulz (Corsa).

For this 48e edition, the organizers selected 13 special stages representing 193,12 km timed. Kick-off will occur on Thursday with the shakedown starting at 16:00 p.m.
