Alors que le WRC has not set foot in England since Wales 2019,ERC 2024 welcomed Ceredigion to the calendar for the first time. The event, which is only in its 4e edition is based in the coastal town of Aberystwyth (190 km north of Cardiff) in Wales. Located just a few kilometers from the service park, the section chosen for the shakedown was 4,15 km long. After being able to make two passes in the morning, the first 17 competitors faced off during the qualification.
Starting in the lead, Hayden Paddon left it to no one to set the best time with his Hyundai i20 Rally2. He is ahead of the Skoda Fabia RS Rally2 of Mathieu Franceschi. Next come the two drivers M-Sport, William Creighton and Jon Armstrong in Ford Fiesta Rally2s. Still in with a shot at the title, Mikolaj Marczyk only took 5the place. Expected on their home turf, the competitors of the British Rally Championship complete the top 10 with notably Chris Ingram (6e). The crews will start according to the ranking of this qualification.
At the end of the day, two very short superspecials will be contested on the streets of Aberystwyth. The first stage will continue on Saturday with 8 SS representing a little over 144 km timed.
