What a pleasure to see the French Championship crews racing at night on the Cévennes roads!
"I've lost my mind.", says Eric Camilli (i20 N Rally2-2C Competition) at the finish of this seventh special of the day. The Cévennes legend lives up to its promises!
The Nice driver finished the day with a lead of more than four seconds over Bonato. It was simply the biggest gap of the day!
Hugo Margaillan (i20 N Rally2-CHL Sport Auto) completes the Top 3 at the end of this first stage of seven special stages marked by a night loop.
Although he acknowledges his lack of experience on these demanding roads, Pablo Sarrazin (C3 Rally2-Sarrazin Motorsport-Iron Lynx) had a great first day with a provisional fourth place ahead of Raphaël Astier (A110 GT-P-CHL Sport Auto).
If tomorrow's schedule includes three special stages, the competitors will have some big stretches to cover, including a 29,2-kilometer special to start the day. Then, the crews will have to complete a short break of more than 12 kilometers before finishing the day with the 45,1 kilometers of the legendary Plantiers.
Needless to say, nothing is decided yet with almost 100 kilometers of timed sections.
This is why we love the Cévennes!
Update: The last special (SS 7) of this first stage was stopped following the exit of Yannick Vivens (DS 3 R5), then sixth in the Critérium.
