Following the announcement made last night by 2C Compétition, specifying the end of its collaboration with Hyundai Motorsport has revealed another piece of the puzzle. This evening, Eric Camilli from Nice announced that he will no longer race under the Korean colors, nor even, for that matter, under those of Team 2C Compétition: "After two years of fruitful collaboration with Hyundai Motorsport and 2C Compétition, our paths diverge today," reads his statement released on social media. Camilli, who previously raced in the... WRC in 2016 at M-SportHe had joined the team and the manufacturer ahead of the 2024 season. While the experience concluded with a 3rd and a 2nd place finish in the French Rally Championship, the overall result was still extremely satisfying for the former winner. Rally Young drivers with 6 wins, including 4 this season, and 14 podiums including the Monte Carlo in WRC2 this year.
A development pilot's cap
Beyond the sporting program, Eric Camilli played a key role in the development of the Hyundai i20N Rally2 Step 2: "I am extremely honored to have contributed to the development of the Hyundai i20N Rally2 Step 2 over the past 24 months, to have led it to success, and to have experienced this extraordinary human adventure that will forever be etched in my memory," he stated. While the car demonstrated its speed in France through his efforts, not to mention the performances of Hugo Margaillan (CHL Sport Auto), the results achieved by Dani Sordo in Portugal and Simon Wagner in the Czech Republic show just how well the car adapted to all types of terrain. Eric Camilli was no stranger to this kind of work, having simultaneously led the development of the Volkswagen Polo R5 GTi at the end of the last decade: "Returning to the role of development driver was a major challenge that I am happy to have met," he recalled.
