Ideal for long weekends, May 2026 was also a busy month for rallying in France. Last week, five rounds of the French Rally Cup were held, alongside the third round of the French Gravel Rally Championship and the second career victory for Sarah Rumeau and Julie Amblard.

In four months, the qualifying period for the French Rally Cup Final, scheduled for October 15th, 16th, and 17th in Remiremont (Vosges), will close. Competitors wishing to participate are therefore entering the final stretch to secure the last few points they need.

Rally of the Seyssel and Chautagne region (N): Jérémi Ancian for a first

Organizing an event is no easy feat, and launching an organizing adventure by creating a National event, with over 110 kilometers of timed sections, is a remarkable achievement. For its very first edition, the Rally The Pays de Seyssel and Chautagne rally brought together a total of 107 crews across all categories. Competing for the first time in his career aboard such a vehicle, Jérémi Ancian, partnered with Sandra Cortinovis, emerged victorious with a Alpine A110 GT+. The recent winner of the Ain-Jura Rally finished ahead of Dimitri Prudhomme – Christophe Richard (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo) and Francis & Alexandre Nicolas (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo).

Bords Spring Rally (N): The De Sousa family feels right at home

There was also a strong field at the Rallye du Printemps de Bords (Charente-Maritime). Many local crews had chosen to participate in the event, as had Arthur Pelamourgues: the driver competing in WRC2 this season was sharing his experience at the event. Hyundai The i20N Rally2 was driven by Jérémy Brissiaud, owner of Fun Meca Sport, who was celebrating his company's 14th anniversary at home last weekend. Taking turns at the wheel, the two men ultimately finished in 24th position. For the victory, Mathias and Camille De Sousa took care of that: driving the family team's Citroën C3 Rally2, they won ahead of Romain Buran – Vanessa Mouret (Ford Fiesta Rally2) and Romuald Lezeau – Romain Favreau (Citroën C3 Rally2).

Ajolais Rally (R): Quentin Gilbert, a prophet in his own land

Having made qualifying for "his" Final his main objective of the season, Quentin Gilbert certainly racked up points throughout the year. Back behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Polo R5 GTi last weekend at Val d'Ajol, the former Junior World Champion took the victory, partnered with Anthony Fernandes in the co-driver's seat. The pair finished ahead of Nicolas Grosjean – Julien Eblé (Škoda Fabia R5) and Maxime Mourey – Jonathan Sponem (Škoda Fabia R5).

Rallye du Pays des Maures – Gonfaron Pignans (R): D'Agostino in charge

The Var region, on the home turf of the French Rally Championship, also hosted the French Rally Cup competitors last weekend in Gonfaron. There, Jordan d'Agostino and Nicolas Boniface didn't hold back in their Škoda Fabia RS Rally2, setting the six fastest times of the rally to win the event by 54,5 seconds over Gaëtan Chastagneret and Maxime Mollier (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo) and Benjamin Bernard and Cédric Schiano (Škoda Fabia Rally2 evo).

Val d'Orain Rally (R): Ghislain Barbier leads the GT+

In Chaussin (Jura), two-wheel drive vehicles were out in force last weekend for the Val d'Orain Rally. On its new Porsche In the 992 GT+, Ghislain Barbier, once again partnered with Yoann Bouchet, took the victory ahead of another Porsche 992 GT+, this one driven by Evan Bullot and Maxime Jaffre. The podium was completed by a Alpine The A110 GT+, driven by Jérôme Rigoulet and Camille Gautron. You have to go down to 5th place in the hierarchy to find the first Rally2, the Hyundai i20N of Aurélien Cart, since in 4th place, Ludovic Godard and Matthieu Bôle-Richard placed the former's BMW 318 Compact, which he was driving in competition for the first time.
