A few weeks after being the first driver to enter a 100% electric Lancia Ypsilon HF in FIA competition at the E-Rally Monte Carlo, the Grenoblois will be at the start of the Rallye du Var at the wheel of an Ypsilon HF Racing, entered in FR6 as part of the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup.

The last Lancia to win the Rallye du Var, in 1990 with the Delta HF Integrale, Saby is preparing to reconnect with a marque whose history is closely linked to the event. Three Lancia victories already feature in the record books: the Stratos of Bernard Darniche and Bernard Spindler in 1975, the 037 of Jean-Claude Andruet and Annick Peuvergne in 1984, and then the victory of Bruno Saby and Daniel Gratalou in 1990.

To celebrate the return of the most decorated brand among manufacturers in WRCSaby will be driving a car designed as the first tier of the Lancia HF Corse pyramid. The Ypsilon HF Racing features a 145 hp, 240 Nm engine, a short-ratio 6-speed gearbox, and a mechanical limited-slip differential. This package is designed to offer a true modern rally car at a reasonable cost.
It will be navigated by Guillaume Mercoiret, the reigning French Rally Champion.

« I had many discussions with Miki Biasion, who participated in the development of the car.Saby explains. I'm sure I'm going to have fun. With around fifteen crews in FR6, it will be like a new lease on life. "Two young drivers will complete the Lancia presence: Paulin Valet, recent podium finisher at Pays de Fayence, co-piloted by Anthony Toppi, and Marius Pastore, class winner at Sarrians with Kévin Clément.

The Rallye du Var will take place on November 28th and 29th, with nearly 700 km of routes including 195 km of special stages, notably the unmissable Collobrières and Gonfaron. Sébastien Loeb will also be present.
