Based on a rotation of twenty-four events over two years, the 2009 and 2010 calendars were established at the end of 2007 to give greater clarity to those involved in the World Rally Championship.
But the World Council announces today that Indonesia (scheduled for June 18-20) and Russia (July 16-18), the seventh and eighth events of the 2010 season, have not passed FIA inspections and will not be included in the next calendar.
As for Monte-Carlo, which was to launch the season, it is also called into question. According to the FIA, the organizers “could request their return to the calendar WRC in 2011 rather than 2010.
If the absence of Rally Automobile Monte-Carlo, to be confirmed in the coming weeks, could be detrimental, the return of other historic events (Finland, Argentina or even Greece) would be very well received by Citroën and Ford, the two manufacturers currently involved at the highest level of the world rally.
