Adrien fourmaux will he be the first Frenchman to put his name on the list of winners in this race which will traditionally take place just after the holidays (January 5-7)? During the 35 previous editions, only Bryan Bouffier (2e in 2013) and Robert Consani (3e in 2015) have indeed managed to get on the podium. Ran around the town of Freistadt (220 km northwest of Vienna) in the Mühlviertel region of Upper Austria, this rally evolves at medium altitudes (up to 1000 m). In January, conditions are often difficult with ice and snow. This will be one more parameter to take into account for the pilot M-Sport who will discover this meeting.

Scheduled in anticipation of his participation in Monte-Carlo, this event will allow Fourmaux and Alexandre Coria, his co-driver, to return to the passenger compartment of a Fiesta Rally2 in which they have not been installed since Vosges Grand-Est in June 2022 (6e). Wearing the No. 1, the two tricolors know that they will not have an easy time facing the locals who will return to the Jänner after 2 years of absence due to the pandemic.

Double outgoing Austrian champion, Simon Wagner (Fabia RS) will be a serious contender just like Hermann Neubauer (Fabia Evo) and Johannes Keferböck (Fabia Evo) who respectively won in 2020 and 2018. Even if his last success there dates back in 2019, Raimund Baumschlager (Fabia RS), who has 3 Jänners to his name, will also be one to watch. In the Ford camp, Fourmaux and Coria will not be alone since Grégoire Munster and Louis Louka will also be at the start to complete their very first race with a Fiesta. 17 special stages and just over 170 timed km await the 78 crews announced.
