Third of Rally from Chile, but facing more difficulties in Central Europe, Adrien fourmaux seemed poised to finish in the top 3. Behind the two title contenders in WRCThe Frenchman was not completely outclassed by Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans fairly, even managing to win stages 8 & 9 while the battle between the leaders raged.

Ultimately forced to retire despite being ahead of the other pilots HyundaiAdrien Fourmaux suffered the brunt of the rain on Sunday morning. In very tricky conditions, he lost control of his car at an unforeseen moment. “During the first special stage of the day, my windshield was fogging up. My visibility was decreasing, it was becoming increasingly difficult,” he explained. At one point, on a muddy corner, I didn't see the mud. I also didn't have the pace notes. I got caught out there. We went a bit wide, hit some small trees on the side, and it ripped Alex's door off. We finally had to retire because we couldn't continue with a missing door for safety reasons.

Fourmaux is progressing at the end of this WRC season

Despite this unfortunate accident, Adrien Fourmaux remains aware of his pace. Keen to remember his ability to outshine his teammates, the Frenchman was particularly focused on his ability to react at this point in the season. “I have no regrets. We had a great weekend, we showed that we’ve made progress with the car on asphalt.” he summarized"It was important after Central Europe. Even in the wet, although it was too short, we would have liked to do more kilometers in those conditions. At least we saw that the car's balance was good, the feeling was much better than in Central Europe, so at least we're heading in the right direction. That's very positive for me. I just would have liked to bring a good result back to the team, that would have been nice, but at least, given the times we set, I think that's what we need to remember. It allows us to move forward."

Now heading to the Saudi Arabia Rally, the final round of the season, Adrien Fourmaux will need to finish strong, if not secure another podium finish, if he doesn't want to be caught by Sami Pajari. Both drivers will also have the opportunity to try and overtake Takamoto Katsuta, who is currently ahead of them.
