Sidelined in Chile last September after a difficult season, Takamoto Katsuta resumed his campaign a fortnight ago in Central Europe. For his return, the Japanese knew he was expected, aware that his performance would be scrutinized very closely, whether it was good or bad.

Luckily, the pilot Toyota did not miss his appointment. Fourth at the end of the race weekend, he particularly distinguished himself on Sunday, which he dominated from start to finish. No one did better than him, who pocketed 12 points, the maximum possible, with the best time during the Power Stage as a bonus. A performance praised by his management, who had made the strong choice to leave him on the sidelines a few weeks earlier.

« It was not easy for Takamoto, told Jari-Matti Latvala. He was coming off a six-week hiatus from competition. He used the period as a reset during the Rally from Chile. As soon as he came back, he was riding exactly as we wanted. He was reasonable and found confidence on the first day, before increasing the pace a little on Saturday and riding more naturally on Sunday. We are really happy for him. He came back to do exactly what we expected of him.. » Perhaps a unifying performance for Katsuta before the final round of the season at home in Japan (November 21-24) but also with a view to 2025.
