By winning the Rally from Chile WRC last September, Sébastien Ogier has taken back the lead in the world championship. Having had a perfect weekend in the last event, the eight-time French world champion had actually managed to win the Rally on the one hand, also placing first in the Super Sunday and the Powerstage. Brilliant, the driver Toyota had surpassed second-placed Elfyn Evans and the other in-form Frenchman, Adrien fourmaux, completing the podium. On the occasion of the Central Europe Rally, Sébastien Ogier will notably benefit from the advantage of opening the road.
Indeed, while this is a clear disadvantage on gravel, such a situation should not harm him on asphalt. While two other contenders for the title, namely Ott Tänak and Kalle Rovanperä, for their part, encountered various problems in Chile, Sébastien Ogier could really take advantage of this new event in Germany to drive the point home, unless the speed of Elfyn Evans is confirmed again on the European roads this weekend.
